Existing Film Mags, visual:
I think majority of these are ugly... the pictures are too harsh and there is lack of defining which is hierarchy out of the text. I also think there is a clash of so many different colours. Some as well I think have too much information on.
My favoured ones are:
Little White Lies
Le Film
Empire
Modern Screen
Because,
More structure, clearer, bit more simple, colours all work better.
This is what I like, I want to apply it to film mags:
hardly any of these are film mags, but I like the :
layout of type, how the type is over the image
interesting layout of type
black and white photography and type over the top
use of white space, also white type of image
a whole image taking up the whole background
black and white photography with type
large image with photography
simple layout, simple contents
dark effect on photograph, gradients etc...
I like the idea of having a bright colour over black and white photography, I would like to explore this
another example of photography with type over it, I also like how the image has more room to brief, not being crowded with loads of info
very little type but large lettering, the type could even be smaller if it is on a magazine
love this, lovely shading, photograph in general is great, good concept behind it as well. In terms of what I could use from it, clear, spaced out type, not too much colour
obvious separation, use of layers on a photograph
